Chiefs have begun contract negotiations with Chris Jones
The Kansas City Chiefs have reportedly begun contract negotiations with franchise-tagged defensive lineman Chris Jones.
They'll have until the 15th to make something work. Jones has previously stated that he would be unwilling to play on the franchise tag, so the pressure should be mounting. Jones was critical to the Chiefs' success in 2019 and his absence would have a huge impact on their defense.
Jones graded out as Pro Football Focus' third best defensive player on third and fourth downs last season, just behind Aaron Donald and Jamal Adams, and behind only Donald in pass-rushing grade. He's an elite talent the Chiefs should be working hard to retain.
