Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen said he "really slacked" on keeping his body durable in 2019.
‘‘I’ve been doing yoga now, stretching more often and just like the small training room — in-house things you do to keep your body durable,’’ Cohen said. ‘‘And to keep the wear-and-tear of the season off of you longer. I really slacked on that." Cohen played all 16 games last season and logged a career-high 533 offensive snaps, but the 2017 fourth-round pick was woefully ineffective. He was limited to 723 yards from scrimmage and 3 touchdowns after racking up a career-high 1,169 yards with 8 touchdowns in his second season. Cohen also only averaged 4.4 yards per target, a far cry from 8.0 in 2018. Entering the final year of his contract, Cohen is expected to play a similar role in 2020 as a complementary backfield piece to David Montgomery. The emphasis on durability, combined with a potential quarterback change, could allow Cohen to have a bounce-back campaign.
numberFire's models project Cohen for 274.3 rushing yards, 357.5 receiving yards, 63.0 receptions (80.0 targets), and 4.8 touchdowns. He's the RB45 in our standard preseason fantasy rankings.
