Titans 'working toward' Derrick Henry extension
Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson insisted the team was "working toward" a long-term agreement with running back Derrick Henry.
Henry is currently scheduled to play the upcoming season on his $10.2 million franchise tender. “He wants to get something done,” Robinson said. "We want to get something done, and we’re working toward that. ... We’re anxious to keep the conversations going and keep talking through things.” Henry led the league in rushing yards (1,540) and carries (303) last season and averaged 5.1 a tote, most among any back with 200-plus attempts. Henry is set up for another monster workload on the ground in 2020, though there is some concern about touchdown regression after he scored an NFL-high 16 rushing touchdowns last season. Henry is unlikely to compensate with passing-game involvement, as he was targeted just 24 times last year. He became the first running back to finish in the top-five of PPR scoring with fewer than 25 targets since Michael Turner in 2008.
numberFire's models project Henry to lead the NFL in carries (293.2), rushing yards (1,329.1), and rushing touchdowns (12.8) this season. He's also pegged for 26.2 receptions on 34.3 targets for 225.7 yards and 1.2 touchdowns, making him the fifth-highest ranked running back in our preseason fantasy rankings.
