Todd Gurley impressing Falcons in private workouts

Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley is impressing quarterback Matt Ryan during private workouts in California.

What It Means:

"I've gotten to work with Todd and he's awesome,'' Ryan praised. "Really, really good guy. A hard worker. He's super-smart. The stuff I was telling him one day, the next day he had it done. I was really impressed with his ability to retain information. You don't have to tell him twice. He's on it.'' Gurley still hasn't been able to take a physical due to the Falcons' team facility still being closed to players, but it sounds like he's made a positive first impression on Ryan and the offense. The big question, however, is whether or not Gurley and his surgically-repaired knees can be effective over the course of a full season as he takes over as Atlanta's lead back. Gurley averaged a four-year low 4.2 yards per touch on a career-low 16.9 touches per game last year for the Los Angeles Rams. That ranked fifth-worst out of 27 running backs with at least 200 touches.

numberFire's models project Gurley for 204.4 carries, 909.9 rushing yards, 44.5 catches (62.8 targets), 372.5 receiving yards, and 11.5 touchdowns this season. He's the RB13 in our preseason fantasy rankings.
