Todd Gurley

Falcons: Todd Gurley health unknown

Atlanta Falcons running back Todd Gurley's health is a question mark, offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter acknowledged.

What It Means:

"The main question, that no one seems to know, is what is his health status," Koetter pointed out. Gurley was available for 15-of-16 games last season, but he averaged a four-year low 4.2 yards per touch (52nd among the 59 players to average 6.25 touches last season) on a career-low 16.9 touches per game. He finished with 1,064 yards from scrimmage after averaging 1,962.0 the previous two seasons. However, Gurley still finished with the fifth-most rushing touchdowns (12) and total touchdowns (14) in the league and he now finds himself behind a better offensive line in Atlanta. Per Pro Football Focus, the Falcons ranked 11th in run blocking last year while the Rams were just 26th. Gurley's arthritic knees may prevent him from returning to a true workhorse, but he's still set up for around 15 carries a game in one of the better offenses around the league. The former first-rounder turns 26 in August.

Gurley averaged 13.6 FanDuel points (RB15) and 70.9 yards from scrimmage per game last season with 14 touchdowns. Despite the downtick in production, Gurley ranked third in Rushing Success Rate among 45 backs with at least 100 carries. He finished 23rd in actual Rushing Net Expected Points per carry.
