Dolphins get defensive tackle Raekwon Davis under contract
The Miami Dolphins have signed second-round pick Raekwon Davis to a four-year contract.
Davis broke out with an incredible sophomore season for the Alabama Crimson Tide, but failed to build on that season in his junior and senior years. Still, the Dolphins needed help on the defensive line, and Davis has shown flashes of elite upside at the position.
In his standout sophomore season, Davis produced 10 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, and an interception. In the subsequent years, he produced just 8.5 more tackles for losses and 2 more sacks. It's unclear what led to the decline in his play, but he still graded out quite well as a run defender in each of the past three seasons according to PFF. Hopefully Dolphins head coach Mike Flores will be able to maximize Davis' immense upside.
