Frank Gore chose Jets due to Adam Gase connection

New York Jets running back Frank Gore said his relationship with head coach Adam Gase played a role in his free agency decision.

What It Means:

Gore apparently also received an offer from the Oakland Raiders. "I got an opportunity to get back with a good friend and a guy I respect, and I'm happy that he wanted me to be on his team," he said. "And I'm happy to be around a guy who has done some great things in this league in Le'Veon Bell." Gore led the Miami Dolphins with 156 carries and 722 rushing yards in 2018 while playing under Gase. He wasn't nearly as effective last season (career-lows in rushing yards per game (37.4) and yards per carry (3.6), but the soon-to-be 27-year-old is fully expected to cut into Bell's workload in 2020.

Gore averaged 5.9 FanDuel points (RB63) and 43.7 yards from scrimmage per game with 2 touchdowns last season. He recorded career-lows with -0.16 Rushing Net Expected Points per attempt and a 33.3 success rate last season, including the playoffs. The league averages were -0.01 Rushing NEP per attempt and a 40.2 success rate.
