Kendrick Bourne penciled in as 49ers' primary WR3
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne will likely play the third-most snaps next season, but the role "probably would vary game to game," writes Matt Barrows of The Athletic.
Bourne played the third-most snaps (43.7 percent) among 49ers' wideouts last season, but Barrows believes Trent Taylor and Jalen Hurd will see more playing time in certain matchups. Regardless of who gets the snaps, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, and first-round rookie Brandon Aiyuk are expected to open the year as San Francisco's top three options in the passing game. Bourne did tie Kittle for the team lead with 5 touchdowns last season, but he never had 70 yards or more than 4 catches in any game.
Bourne averaged 5.5 FanDuel points (WR91) and 22.4 yards per game, catching 30 passes on 44 targets for 358 yards. He added 0.95 Reception Net Expected Points per target, finishing above league average (0.70) and with the most among all 49ers player with at least 10 targets.
