Jaguars interested in Andy Dalton
The Jacksonville Jaguars have interest in free agent quarterback Andy Dalton, per Steve Wyche of NFL Network.
Dalton was released by the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday morning. Jaguars offensive coordinator Jay Gruden was Dalton's head coach in Cincinnati, so this was expected. Dalton could wind up taking over as the starter if Gardner Minshew struggles in his second season.
Dalton averaged a career-high 268.8 yards over 13 games last season, but his 59.5 completion percentage was the lowest since his rookie season. He also posted a personal-low in adjusted yards per attempt (6.0). Among the 22 quarterbacks with at least 500 drop backs, Dalton was tied for last with 0.01 Passing Net Expected Points per play. Minshew added 0.06 Passing NEP per play, tied for 24th.
