Everson Griffen open to potential return to Vikings

Free-agent defensive lineman Everson Griffen did not close the door on a return to the Minnesota Vikings this offseason.

What It Means:

Griffen told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero to "never say never" on a possible return to Minnesota. The former 100th overall pick in the 2010 draft has spent his entire ten-year career in Minnesota, recording 74.5 sacks. The 32-year-old, three-time Pro Bowler had a bounce-back season in 2019, producing 8 sacks, 13 quarterback knockdowns, 13 hurries, and 35 pressures. Everson makes a strong case for the best edge rusher still available in free agency, alongside Jadeveon Clowney. Everson stated that he is in "no rush to sign anywhere" and his focus is on "finding the right fit, coaching staff and culture".

Griffen received a pass-rushing grade of 75.9 from Pro Football Focus last season, the 27th best mark in the league at his position.
