Brian Winters expected to remain with Jets

New York Jets guard Brian Winters will likely be retained, writes Connor Hughes of The Athletic.

What It Means:

Hughes deduced this from a conference call that Jets general manager Joe Douglas held with the media. Winters started nine games at right guard last season before being placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He is due a non-guaranteed $7.2 million in 2020, but the Jets reportedly want him to take a pay cut. The team has added offensive tackle George Fant, guard Greg Van Roten, and center Connor McGovern in free agency this offseason and re-signed guard Alex Lewis. Winters turns 29 this summer.

Winters graded 34th overall on Pro Football Focus last season among the 68 guards to play at least 500 offensive snaps.
