Tyrod Taylor 'in driver seat' to start for Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor is expected to start, per head coach Anthony Lynn.
"He’s in the driver's seat, but nothing is finalized," Lynn said. The Chargers reportedly are not expected to sign or trade for a veteran quarterback, so Taylor's current competition only consists of 2019 fifth-round pick Easton Stick, who didn't see the field as a rookie. Taylor also barely played last season, but while playing under Lynn for the Buffalo Bills from 2015-17, he averaged 201.3 passing yards and 35.8 rushing yards a game with 65 touchdowns (51 passing, 14 rushing) and 16 interceptions. The Chargers are still widely expected to select a quarterback in the first round of the draft.
Taylor was the QB10 (2015), QB8 (2016), and QB21 (2017) in terms of FanDuel points per game during the aforementioned three-year stretch. He performed either at or above league average in numberFire's adjusted passing metric each of those three seasons.
