Eagles reportedly acquiring Darius Slay from Lions for pair of picks
The Philadelphia Eagles are acquiring defensive back Darius Slay from the Detroit Lions in exchange for a 2020 third-round pick and 2020 fifth-round pick, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Slay and the Eagles have reportedly already reached agreement on a 3-year, $50 million extension that includes $30 million guaranteed. His play took a step back last season, but Slay should step in immediately as the Eagles' new number-one corner. He's capable of shadowing the opponent's top option all over the field, including in the slot. Slay turned 29 in January.
Slay allowed a 55.9 completion percentage and surrendered 7.5 yards per target to opposing quarterbacks last season, both worse than his performance in 2018. Per Pro Football Focus, Slay's coverage grade of 56.9 ranked just 92nd in the NFL.
