Linval Joseph, Chargers agree to two-year contract
Free agent defensive tackle Linval Joseph and the Los Angeles Chargers have come to terms on a two-year contract worth $17 million.
A 10-year veteran in the NFL, Joseph is moving on from the Minnesota Vikings, with whom he spent six seasons after originally being drafted by the New York Giants. The 31-year-old started 13 games a year ago- he spent a brief amount of time on the shelf with a meniscus ailment - racking up 32 tackles and 3 sacks with a forced fumble.
Joseph ranked as Pro Football Focus' No. 30 defensive lineman among those who played at least 50% of snaps a season ago, checking in with a 71.2 overall grade. He joins a chargers team that ranked 13th in yards per attempt allowed on the ground (4.2) and 21st in the league in expected points contributed by rushing defense (1.08) according to Pro Football Reference.
