D.J. Reader GTD

D.J. Reader, Bengals reportedly agree for 4 years, $53 million

The Cincinnati Bengals signed defensive tackle D.J. Reader, formerly of the Houston Texans, to a 4-year, $53 million contract, reports Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

What It Means:

Reader will be able to help boost a Bengals defense that finished at the bottom of the league in rushing yards allowed per game last season (149.0). He and Geno Atkins should form one of the best defesnive tackle duos in the game. Reader set career-highs last season with 2.5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, and 13 quarterback hits. He turns 26 in July.

Reader was Pro Football Focus' highest-graded defensive tackle available in free agency this offseason. His 13 QB hits were more than his first three seasons combined (11).
