Colts acquire DeForest Buckner from 49ers for 13th pick

The Indianapolis Colts acquired defensive lineman DeForest Buckner from the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for the 13th overall pick.

What It Means:

The trade comes on the same day the 49ers signed fellow defensive lineman Arik Armstead to a five-year deal worth up to $85 million. Buckner recorded 7.5 sacks with 2 forced fumbles and a defensive touchdown in 16 games for the 49ers last season. His arrival should help upgrade a Colts team that became the first team in NFL history to allow teams to complete at least 70 percent of their pass attempts in two straight seasons.

Buckner has 19.5 sacks over the last two seasons. The Colts were 23rd in the NFL in pressuring opposing quarterbacks last season and 26th in rushing yards allowed per game.
