Kerryon Johnson lands on IR with knee injury, Lions hoping for return
The Detroit Lions placed running back Kerryon Johnson on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Johnson is undergoing knee surgery Tuesday. The Lions are hopeful he will be able to return later this season, but it wouldn't be until Week 16 at the earliest. Sixth-round rookie Ty Johnson is taking over the early-down role, with J.D. McKissic as a change-of-pace option.
Johnson has 92 carries for 308 yards (3.3 per carry) and 2 touchdowns this season. He also has 9 catches on 14 targets for 126 yards and 1 touchdown.
