Saints' Drew Brees (thumb) resumes throwing NFL ball
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has resumed working with a regulation-sized football.
“I’ve graduated to the NFL ball,” Brees said. “I have a really kind of disciplined plan for what I need to do for strength and flexibility and then my throwing and all that stuff. So really starting to get back into it, doing football stuff, and just trying to get back as quick as I can." The future Hall-of-Famer seems to have a solid chance of returning Week 8 against the Chicago Bears after the Saints' bye. Teddy Bridgewater has gone 4-0 as the starter in place of Brees.
Brees completed 72.9 percent of his passes for 408 yards (8.5 yards per attempt) with 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions before the thumb injury.
