Panthers may lose Jared Allen for season

Carolina Panthers defensive end Jared Allen suffered a foot injury in Sunday's Divisional Round win over the Seattle Seahawks and may be done for the season.

What It Means:

It's unclear when the injury occurred. Acquired from the Chicago Bears in September for a sixth-round pick, Allen struggled out of the gates in Carolina but made an impact as a pass rusher late in the season. He was playing around 65 percent of the Panthers' defensive snaps. The Panthers will need more from rotational speed rusher Mario Addison opposite Charles Johnson and Kony Ealy.

The Panthers did an excellent job keeping the Seahawks at bay all day in the Divisional Round, allowing no points in the first half. This carried over from the regular season, where their -35.60 Adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points ranked second in the league.
