49ers' Jalen Hurd (back) questionable for opener
San Francisco 49ers third-round wide receiver Jalen Hurd (back) may not be ready for Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Hurd made some noise in the 49er' first preseason game by hauling in a pair of touchdown catches, but he was held without a catch in the second exhibition and sidelined for the third due to a tight back. If Hurd is unavailable for Week 1, the 49ers will likely use Dante Pettis (groin), Marquise Goodwin, and Jordan Matthews in three-wide sets, with fellow rookie Deebo Samuel as the fourth guy. Shanahan said Hurd will be re-evaluated next week.
numberFire's models project Hurd for 21.2 targets, 13.0 receptions, 151.0 yards, and 1.04 touchdowns.
