Jerick McKinnon (knee) could return for 49ers this week
San Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon (knee) could come off the PUP list as early as Thursday, believes head coach Kyle Shanahan.
What It Means:
McKinnon had a "flare up" with his surgically-repaired right knee, so this is a positive sign. He tore his ACL last offseason after joining the 49ers as a free agent on a four-year deal. If his health allows it, McKinnon is expected to compete with Matt Breida for touches behind Tevin Coleman in 2019. He turned 27 in May.
McKinnon is currently the RB53 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models have him pegged for 416.7 yards and 2.56 touchdowns, with another 133.8 yards on 16.0 receptions.
