Washington quarterback race could 'come down to the wire'

Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden said the team's quarterback competition between Dwayne Haskins and Case Keenum could "come down to the wire."

What It Means:

Haskins was the 15th overall pick in the draft, while the team traded for Keenum earlier in the offseason. Outside of a strong 2017 in Minnesota, Keenum has been a below-average NFL starter. His apparent ability to avoid sacks has been his only reliably above-average skill since turning pro. Still, he has 54 starts under his belt, so he could be a better win-now option if Haskins isn't ready.

Our models project Keenum to average 6.4 yards per pass with 10.89 touchdowns and 7.67 interceptions. Haskins is forecasted to throw for 6.7 yards per pass with 11.06 touchdowns and 8.71 interceptions.
