Panthers putting Cam Newton on 'pitch count'
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton (shoulder) will be on a "pitch count" during the preseason, head coach Ron Rivera said.
Newton avoided the active/PUP list to begin training camp, but the Panthers are going to ease him into things as he comes off his second shoulder operation in three years. The veteran signal-called turned 30 in May.
numberFire's models project Newton for 3,857.8 passing yards with 26.81 touchdowns and 12.2 interceptions this season, as well as 555.0 yards and 5.71 touchdowns on the ground. He's the QB5 in our preseason fantasy rankings.
