Jets send rookie Devin Smith (ACL) to injured reserve

New York Jets wide receiver Devin Smith has been placed on injured reserve with a torn right ACL, ending his season.

What It Means:

Smith will end his disappointing rookie season with nine catches, 115 yards and one touchdown on 28 targets. His deep-threat abilities were under-utilized and simply out of place in offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's spread offense that asks Ryan Fitzpatrick to dink-and-dunk with more efficient routes in the short-area. His value in dynasty will continue to be bottled up in this Jets' offense.

Among the seven wide receivers who have seen a target with the Jets this season, Smith is fifth on the team in Receiving Net Expected Points (NEP) per target. He earned -2.27 Total NEP in Week 14, not catching any of his three targets against the Tennessee Titans.
