Patriots reportedly sign Bruce Ellington for a season
The New England Patriots signed wide receiver Bruce Ellington, formerly of the Detroit Lions, to a 1-year contract, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Ellington will likely compete for a role in the slot with Maurice Harris, who the Patriots also reportedly signed to a 1-year deal. There's not much pass-catching talent currently on New England's roster, so Ellington could wind up with a relevant role in the offense. He also may not even make the final roster. Ellington will be 28 in August.
Ellington caught 31 passes (42 targets) for 224 yards and 1 touchdown in seven games between the Lions and Houston Texans last season.
