Todd Gurley, C.J. Anderson to split carries for Rams versus Patriots
Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley will not see workhorse usage in Super Bowl LIII against the New England Patriots on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
The Rams used the same approach in their postseason victories over the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints, and the decision to implement it again is "based on a variety of factors," writes Rapoport, who spoke with Rams running backs coach Skip Peete last week. "We said, 'Going forward, we got to make sure you're fresh, you're healthy,'" Peete told Rapoport. "The workload that you had prior to you sitting out, probably can't go that route right now. He understood that." Gurley was out-touched by Anderson 17-5 in the NFC Championship.
numberFire's models expect Gurley to log 12.1 touches and Anderson to see 10.8 touches on Sunday.
