Ben Roethlisberger talking new deal with Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger have opened contract negotiations, team owner and president Art Rooney II said.

What It Means:

"He’s still, I would say, close to being in the prime of his career and now that we see quarterbacks around the league that are playing into their 40s," Rooney said. "I am not sure there is any reason why Ben can’t play for several more years. So we are looking forward to that." Roethlisberger turns 37 in March, but he just set career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns, so it's no surprise the Steelers want to lock him up for a few more seasons.

Big Ben threw for 5,129 yards on a 67.0 completion percentage this season, with 34 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. He also rushed for 3 scores.
