Chargers reportedly promote running back Troymaine Pope from practice squad
Los Angeles Chargers running back Troymaine Pope has been promoted from the practice squad.
Pope provides some insurance for the Chargers on Thursday night if Melvin Gordon (knee, game-time decision) is ruled out. The 25-year-old back hasn't played since brief stints with the New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks in 2016. He and Detrez Newsome will likely back up Justin Jackson if Gordon is inactive.
Pope has 49 yards from scrimmage on 13 touches in his career.
