Melvin Gordon (knee) reportedly not expected to play for Chargers versus Chiefs

Los Angeles Chargers running back Melvin Gordon (knee) is not expected to play Week 15 versus the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night, reports Steve Wyche of NFL Network.

What It Means:

Wyche tweets that the Chargers "are not optimistic" that Gordon and Austin Ekeler (neck, concussion) will be available, meaning seventh-round rookie Justin Jackson will likely step in as the starter. Detrez Newsome also figures to see some work.

Gordon was averaging 23.0 FanDuel points per game before the injury, with 153 carries for 802 yards and 9 touchdowns and 44 receptions (60 targets) for 453 yards and 4 touchdowns.
