Jason Pierre-Paul suffers severe hand injury
New York Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul suffered a severe hand injury in a fireworks accident.
The injury is not believed to be career threatening, but Pierre-Paul will meet with doctors in the coming days to assess the damage. The Giants placed their franchise tag on Pierre-Paul earlier this year, but he still has not signed his franchise tender as both sides were trying to negotiate a long-term deal. This would be a big hit to the Giants pass rush if Pierre-Paul's injury negatively affects his play as he registered a team-high 12.5 sacks last season. Pierre-Paul suffered significant burns to his palm and may have suffered nerve damage to one of his fingers.
