Patriots make it official: Rob Gronkowski week to week

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is week-to-week with a bruised and sprained knee, the team said in an official statement.

What It Means:

"There is no timetable for his readiness to return, which will be determined in the days or hours prior to the appropriate game," the Patriots said. "Any timetable reported prior to that final determination would be speculative." This is essentially what the "sources" have been saying. Gronk is 50-50 at best at this point for the Week 14 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. For however long Gronkowski is out, Scott Chandler will likely see a big boost in volume.

Among tight ends with at least 35 targets, Gronkowski is ranked third in Reception Net Expected Points (NEP) per target. Against the stout Denver Broncos' defense in Week 12, he added 7.64 Reception NEP on 10 targets.
