Cardinals place Chris Johnson (leg) on IR/return
The Arizona Cardinals placed running back Chris Johnson (broken leg) on injured reserve/designated to return.
It effectively ends Johnson's season, but he could be activated for Super Bowl 50 if the Cardinals make it to Santa Clara. It leaves the 9-2 Cardinals with a backfield duo of Andre Ellington and David Johnson, though for now Ellington is nursing a case of turf toe. The veteran Johnson's efficiency had waned in recent weeks, as well.
David Johnson has accumulated 23.77 Total Net Expected Points (NEP) on 64 opportunities this year, ranking seventh among the the 65 running backs with at least 60 opportunities. His Total NEP per play of 0.37 ranks first among these same players.
