Bears' Matt Forte (MCL) says he will play Thanksgiving
Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte (MCL) confirmed that he plans to play Thursday against the Green Bay Packers.
He sat out the last three weeks with a sprained MCL. "I probably could have played last Sunday, but I might not have been able to play coming up this week if something would have happened," Forte admitted. Jeremy Langford played well enough in his absence to earn a handful of carries as the change-of-pace option, but how the Bears will split up the touches is uncertain.
Langford has outplayed Forte this season, but not by a substantial margin. Among backs with at least 75 carries, Langford ranks 19th in Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per carry while Forte checks in 29th. Green Bay has struggled against the run and ranks 25th in Adjusted Defensive Rushing NEP per play.
