3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamer Options for Week 16

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 40% of Yahoo leagues who are in good spots this week.

Brock Purdy, 49ers

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 21%

Brock Purdy gets a home matchup with the Washington Commanders, and he's an excellent streaming option for Week 16.

The San Francisco 49ers are 7.5-point favorites with a 23.5-point implied total. They should move the ball well, and as long as the running game doesn't hog all the touchdowns, Purdy should have a solid fantasy day.

He's been pretty darn good thus far -- even if it hasn't always translated to big fantasy outputs. Among quarterbacks with at least 90 drop backs this year, he ranks fourth in Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per drop back (0.24).

Surrounded by elite weapons, Purdy can help get you to Championship Week. We project him to score 15.3 fantasy points and rank him as the week's QB15.

Kenny Pickett, Steelers

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 11%

This is a placeholder for whoever starts at quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, assuming it's either Mitchell Trubisky (1% rostered) or Kenny Pickett (and not Mason Rudolph).

Whether Pickett is cleared to play or we get another week of Trubisky, the Steelers' offense has a delightful home matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. Our schedule-adjusted metrics rank Vegas next to last in both overall defense and pass defense. They've given up the fifth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (19.2).

Pickett and Trubisky have some running ability, as well, which is always a positive when it comes to streaming signal-callers.

As of now, we're projecting Trubisky to start, and we have him posting 15.5 fantasy points, which is good enough to be the QB14. That's a smidge in front of Purdy, and you can make a case for the Steelers' starting quarterback -- whichever one it is -- as the week's number-one streamer. It's just hard to know, as of now, which one to add early in the week.

Daniel Jones, Giants

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 59%

If Daniel Jones is available in your league, he's a fantastic option. While Jones is over the typical roster-percentage cutoff for this article, I wanted to touch on him, because our projections are pretty high on him this week.

Jones and the New York Giants play at the Minnesota Vikings. Minnesota's defense is struggling, and they are a pass-funnel unit, ranking second against the run -- per our numbers -- and sixth-worst against the pass. That has resulted in the Vikes surrendering the seventh-most fantasy points per game to passers (18.9).

We know what Jones is. He hasn't bested 200 passing yards in a game in any of his previous three outings, but his outlook is always boosted by his legs. He's run for at least 20 yards in all but two games this season, including five games with 50-plus rushing yards.

Our model loves Danny Dimes this week, projecting him to amass 17.1 fantasy points and slotting him as the week's QB8.
