3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streamer Options for Week 6

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 40% of Yahoo leagues who are in good spots this week.

Geno Smith, Seahawks

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 36%

This is probably the last week Geno Smith will be available for this piece, and based on how Smith has played this year, his roster percentage should already be over our 40% cutoff.

Geno is currently the season-long QB6 and is averaging 19.6 points per game. He draws a sublime matchup this week as the Seattle Seahawks play host to the Arizona Cardinals. Arizona has permitted the eighth-most fantasy points per game to signal-callers (19.5), and this game sports a 51.5-point total and 2.5-point spread, making it ripe for a shootout.

Smith checks all the boxes this week. We project him to score 17.9 points and rank him as the week's QB10.

Jimmy Garoppolo, 49ers

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 26%

Jimmy Garoppolo has a nice indoors matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.

Atlanta is fifth-worst in overall defense, per our metrics, and has given up the 11th-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (18.8).

Jimmy G's floor can be a tad scary due to how well the San Francisco 49ers run the ball, and that could be an issue in this one with the Niners being a 5.5-point favorite. But that was the same deal last week in a game at the Carolina Panthers, and Garoppolo threw it 30 times, totaling 252 passing yards and a pair of tuddies.

We have him scoring 15.5 points in Week 6 and slot him as the QB17.

Justin Fields, Bears

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 38%

Justin Fields isn't a fun start right now with how little the Chicago Bears are passing (league-low 39.8% pass-play rate). However, he gets a sweet home matchup this week against the Washington Commanders, and Fields' running ability boosts his fantasy outlook.

Washington's D has been bad this year, allowing the ninth-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (19.2), and they've been a pass-funnel defense, which is huge for Fields' prospects. Washington ranks ninth-worst against the pass and third-best versus the run, according to our numbers.

Fields has sneaky-good upside in this spot and is coming off his best passing outing of the year (15 for 21 for 208 yards and a score). I don't mind him this week as a deep-league streamer or a start in two-quarterbacks formats.
