5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 11

Week 11 of the 2020 season goes into the books with a team still yet to taste defeat, another yet to record a victory, and a whole division that doesn't look like producing anything approaching a worthy winner.

It was another crazy week of action in the NFL. Here are five stats to know -- both traditional and our advanced statistics -- from Week 11 of the NFL season.

Justin Herbert Passed for 3 More Touchdowns

It was a mixed week for first-round rookie quarterbacks. Joe Burrow suffered a devastating season-ending injury for the Cincinnati Bengals. Tua Tagovailoa was benched late in the game by the Miami Dolphins. But the third quarterback to be taken inside the top 10 in last April's draft had himself another great day on Sunday.

Justin Herbert's career-high 366 passing yards and three touchdowns led the Los Angeles Chargers to a 34-28 victory over the winless New York Jets. Herbert has five games of at least 300 yards so far in 2020, tied for the second-most by a rookie in NFL history. Burrow also had five such games this season. Herbert has plenty of time to surpass the existing record of six 300-yard games for a first-year quarterback, which was set by Andrew Luck in 2012.

Herbert already owns two records outright, with five games featuring at least three touchdown passes and multiple touchdowns in seven straight games. No rookie has ever achieved either of these feats.

Taysom Hill Scored 24.42 PPR Points

The wider footballing world was expecting Jameis Winston to draw the start in the absence of Drew Brees for the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. But Sean Payton decided instead to roll with utilityman Taysom Hill at quarterback against the Atlanta Falcons.

Hill was efficient as a passer, completing 18 of his 23 pass attempts for 233 yards. But he made his real mark as a runner. Hill ran 10 times for 51 yards and two touchdowns. He is just the second quarterback in the Super Bowl era to mark his first career start with 40 or more rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. The only other player to achieve this feat was Daunte Culpepper for the Minnesota Vikings back in Week 1 of the 2000 season.

Hill finished his day with 24.42 fantasy points, good for third among quarterbacks (and second among tight ends in full PPR) in Week 11. These are the most points scored by a Saints quarterback in 2020, beating the 23.70 Brees managed against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7.

Alvin Kamara Has 500+ Rushing and Receiving Yards

In Week 11 Alvin Kamara had a quiet game by his standards, with just 13 rushing attempts for 45 yards and a touchdown. Sunday marked the first time in his career he failed to catch a pass in a game.

Kamara's rushing yards were enough to take him past 500 for the season, which in concert with his 648 receiving yards makes him the first player in NFL history with at least 500 rushing and receiving yards in each of his first four seasons.

Kamara is the seventh player in NFL history to have a streak of four such seasons, joining Marshall Faulk (five seasons between 1998-2002), Lydell Mitchell (five between 1974-1978), Clem Daniels (1963-1966), Charlie Garner (1999-2002), Thurman Thomas (1989-1992) and Brian Westbrook (2004-2007).

Frank Gore Has Another Season With 500 Yards From Scrimmage

There has been precious little to celebrate for the Jets this season, with the misery continuing with a 10th straight loss last week. The Jets are the first team officially eliminated from postseason play this year, the earliest this has occurred to them in their history.

But Week 11 did have one crumb of consolation for Jets running back Frank Gore. Gore had 71 yards from scrimmage against the Chargers, taking him to 505 for the season. Gore has at least 500 yards from scrimmage in 16 seasons, taking him into a three-way tie with Larry Fitzgerald and Tony Gonzalez for the most such seasons in NFL history. It will probably depend on where Adam Gase is coaching after this season if Gore is to have a chance to match the record of 18 seasons, which is held by Jerry Rice.

Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp Had 10-Plus Catches for 100-Plus Yards

It hasn't been a dominant season for the Los Angeles Rams' duo of Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. The pair went into Monday Night Football against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a combined 95 receptions for 1,040 grabs. But their figures look a lot better after Monday's win, when the pair both posted double-digit receptions for more than 100 yards. Woods had 12 catches for 130 yards and a touchdown, while Kupp chipped in with 11 grabs for 145 yards.

Monday marked the first time in Rams history that two players have had 10 or more receptions for 100-plus receiving yards in the same game. They are the fourth duo to have 11 or more grabs and 130-plus yards in the same game in the last 70 years. The other pairs are Dallas Cowboys Tony Hill and Doug Cosbie in 1985, Art Monk and Ricky Sanders for Washington in 1990, and Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter in 2010 when they played for the Houston Texans.
