3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Options for Week 8

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing potentially productive quarterbacks in good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Patrick Mahomes as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal-callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks rostered in fewer than roughly 40% of Yahoo leagues who are in good spots this week.

Teddy Bridgewater, Panthers

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 44%

Teddy Bridgewater is once again a quality streaming option, this time with a Thursday matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons. While Atlanta hasn't been quite as horrific on defense of late, our schedule-adjusted metrics still have them as the worst passing D and the eighth-worst overall defense. They're giving up the most fantasy points per game to signal callers (28.3).

Bridgewater has been fairly reliable this season. He's been able to take advantage of his best matchups while struggling in tougher spots. In games against the stout defenses of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers, Teddy has averaged 10.9 fantasy points. In easier matchups against the Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints and Atlanta, he's averaged 21.4 points and put up at least 19.1 points in each.

While it's fair to be a tad underwhelmed by the upside as Bridgewater has gone for more than 21.0 fantasy points only once, we should be able to count on him for a solid game on Thursday. We project Bridgewater for 19.2 points, making him our QB7 for the week.

Derek Carr, Raiders

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 29%

Derek Carr has been a steady performer this year, and he's totaled between 19.2 and 24.0 points in each of his last three outings, putting up 19.3 points last week in a tough date with the Bucs.

He gets a softer matchup this week as the Raiders travel to take on the Cleveland Browns. The game has a 53.5-point total, and Cleveland is a 2.5-point favorite. Our metrics have the Browns as the second-worst pass D in the league, and they're surrendering the seventh-most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (22.3).

Our projections are really high on Carr for this one, forecasting him to score 18.9 fantasy points. He's our QB9 this week.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Niners

Yahoo Roster Percentage: 30%

Jimmy Garoppolo gets a dreamy matchup versus the Seattle Seahawks. Seattle can't stop any passing game right now, giving up the second-most points per game to quarterbacks while allowing the most points per game -- by 8.6 half-PPR points -- to receivers.

The San Francisco 49ers aren't typically an air-it-out type of offense, but as 3.0-point road 'dogs in a game with a total of 54.0, they should have to be a little more pass happy this week. Plus, Seattle has been a pass-funnel D all year, ranking third-worst versus the pass and seventh-best against the run, per our metrics.

We have Jimmy G pegged for 17.0 fantasy points, putting him firmly on the streaming radar in a week where we have quite a few serviceable options.
