3 Fantasy Football Tight End Streaming Options for Week 15

The tight end position in 2019 features distinct tiers. It's headlined by the elite trio of Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Zach Ertz. Behind them is a young trio of promising options who many gamers drafted expecting them to take a leap forward this year in the form of O.J. Howard. Evan Engram, and Hunter Henry.

Things haven't gone according to plan with some breakout candidates, but Darren Waller and Mark Andrews have helped add some talent to the position. Still, tight end continues to leave something to be desired. Whether you entered the year planning to stream or have been disappointed by the option you drafted, I've got you covered. Below, there are three widely available options for streamers for Week 10..

David Njoku, Cleveland Browns

Last week, I suggested David Njoku as a look-ahead streamer. For those who counted on him in Week 14, he disappointed with only one reception for four receiving yards. On the plus side, his three targets were tied for third-most targets on the team in a game Baker Mayfield was asked to throw the ball just 24 times. Furthermore, Njoku played a solid if unspectacular 38 percent of the Cleveland Browns offensive snaps, per Pro-Football-Reference, in his first game back from injured reserve.

Adam Levitan of Establish the Run added some more context to Njoku's play, noting he ran routes on one-third of Mayfield's dropbacks. Additionally, he was targeted on one-third of his routes run. His limited playing time makes him a bit risky this week, but even a slight step forward in playing time after shaking some rust off could be all he needs in the creme de la creme of fantasy matchups for tight ends.

The Cardinals have ceded the fifth-most receptions (78) and coughed up the most receiving yards (956) and touchdown receptions (13) to tight ends this year, according to Pro-Football-Reference. The Cardinals' propensity for serving up touchdowns to opposing tight ends is especially noteworthy for Njoku this week due to Cleveland's tasty implied total of 25.0 points, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

Noah Fant, Denver Broncos

Noah Fant was quiet in Drew Lock's first start in Week 13, catching just 1 of 3 targets for 5 receiving yards. Last week, he blew up for 4 receptions, 113 receiving yards, and 1 touchdown on 4 targets.

The above-tweeted video illustrates Fant's first catch of last week, an impressive catch-and-run effort resulting in 48 yards. He picked up some more yardage after the catch on the following play.

Finally, one more video of his touchdown grab -- which was admittedly not a thing of beauty.

Fant's effort last week was his second eclipsing 100 receiving yards in a game this year, and he has a cushy matchup to keep things rolling. He'll take a second crack at the Chiefs after posting a dud against them with Joe Flacco starting back in Week 7. Kansas City's allowed the most receptions (85) and fifth-most receiving yards (812) to tight ends this year.

Gamers weighing whether or not to use a waiver claim on Fant after he left last week's contest early with a foot injury should make the claim. Head coach Vic Fangio downplayed the severity of the injury (while also pointing out some hip irritation), and he voiced optimism for Fant's availability this week. Obviously gamers should keep tabs on his practice participation (or lack thereof) throughout the week, but the early optimism is a plus.

Tyler Higbee, Los Angeles Rams

Tyler Higbee is coming off of back-to-back 100-plus receiving yard efforts. In Week 13, he caught 7 of 8 targets for 107 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. Last week, he ripped off 7 receptions for 116 receiving yards on 11 targets. The first of his back-to-back blowups was against the Cardinals. The second was against another soft defense against tight ends, as the Seahawks have allowed the second-most receptions (84) and receiving yards (918) to tight ends.

Regardless of the soft matchups, Higbee's balled out. He has another soft-ish matchup on the horizon, too. The Cowboys are tied for the sixth-most receptions (70) allowed and have yielded the 13th-most receiving yards (691) to tight ends this year. Circling back to last week's eye-catching performance, he was an air yardage beast. He accounted for the seventh-highest percentage of the team's air yardage (46.83 percent), according to NFL Next Gen Stats.

Higbee isn't a risk-free streamer despite his recent emergence of late. Fellow tight end Gerald Everett was out both of those games. He'll reportedly be out of practice early this week, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be out this week.

Another absence from Everett would be a plus for Higbee's outlook, but he's startable even if Everett returns. Having said that, the presence of ample offensive alternatives in the passing attack such as receivers Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, and Brandin Cooks always present the potential for a low-scoring effort for whoever the odd man out ends up being in a given week. All things considered, though, every streaming option at the weak position of tight end has a low floor. Now that Higbee's shown off a new found ceiling, he's become an attractive streamer.
