3 Fantasy Football Quarterback Streaming Options for Week 8

Quarterback streaming isn't for everyone, but if you're in a standard league -- like a 10- or 12-team league that features just one starting signal caller -- grabbing productive quarterbacks who have good matchups off the waiver wire is often doable.

Sure, you won't have the luxury of setting it and forgetting it with Deshaun Watson as your quarterback, but when the top-end signal callers draw a tough matchup, their upside can oftentimes be matched by a waiver-wire option in a more favorable situation.

After a nice start to the year, we had our second straight whiff in Week 7 as Daniel Jones finished with 10.42 fantasy points (QB20) despite a great home matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. Before the last two weeks, we had gotten QB1 (top-12) production in four of the first five weeks. For the year, we're averaging 16.19 fantasy points per game, good enough for the season-long QB18.

If you're looking for some quarterback options from the waiver wire -- regardless of league size -- we have you covered. Here are three quarterbacks owned in fewer than roughly 30% of Yahoo! leagues who are in good spots this week.

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans

Yahoo Ownership: 5%

It's not a great week for streamers, but Ryan Tannehill checks some boxes.

He's up against a Tampa Bay Buccaneers defenses that's given up more than a couple solid fantasy days to meh quarterbacks this season -- 34.24 points to Daniel Jones, 20.68 to Jared Goff, 27.26 to Teddy Bridgewater and 17.38 to Kyle Allen.

Tannehill looked good in Week 7 in his first start of the season, completing 23 of 29 passes for 312 yards, two scores, and one pick. That was good for 19.18 fantasy points. He also ran the ball five times, and while those attempts went for just seven yards, he does have a little running ability, notching at least 141 yards rushing in each of his six seasons with the Miami Dolphins.

The ceiling here isn't great since the Tennessee Titans would probably like to run the ball often if they get a positive game script. But Tennessee sports a 24.50-point implied total, and our models have Tannehill as the QB15 for the week, pegging him to score 15.59 points.

Mason Rudolph, Pittsburgh Steelers

Yahoo Ownership: 7%

Mason Rudolph is at home against the Miami Dolphins.

Oh, you want more?

Obviously, Miami is very bad. You don't need me to elaborate much there. Rudolph hasn't been great by any means, but assuming he's healthy after the Pittsburgh Steelers' bye week, this is a plum spot for him as the Steelers own a tasty 28.75-point implied total.

Rudolph has made three starts this season, and in his easiest matchup, at home against the Cincinnati Bengals, he posted 16.86 fantasy points on 229 passing yards and two scores. We forecast Rudolph for a similar day in Week 8, projecting him to score 16.78 points and ranking him as our QB11.

Mitchell Trubisky, Chicago Bears

Yahoo Ownership: 25%

Somehow, Mitchell Trubisky finished Week 7 with 20.04 fantasy points despite looking terrible for most of the game. It's not going to feel good to start him, but he's in a decent spot at home against the Los Angeles Chargers' defense Tannehill just had a good day against.

Just a year ago, Trubisky flashed a big-time ceiling with games of 36.00, 31.42, 27.34 and 43.46 fantasy points. Things haven't looked good so far in 2019, but as a home favorite, he could post a solid day. And we shouldn't sleep on his running ability as he ran for at least 40 yards five times a year ago.

Our projections have Trubisky scoring 15.56 points, slotting him as our QB16.
