FanDuel Single-Game Daily Fantasy Football Helper: Week 6 Sunday Night

With the Chargers favored, Melvin Gordon could have his first big game of 2019. Who else makes for a good play on this single-game slate?

Week 6's Sunday Night Football clash features an exciting showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Chargers. Following the main slate of action, fantasy enthusiasts can stay involved throughout the night by playing in FanDuel's Sunday night's single-game contests.

For those unfamiliar, single-game slates feature five flex spots with identical scoring to the main slate. However, kickers are included in these contests and there is an "MVP" roster slot. The MVP receives 1.5-times his total fantasy points, making this spot crucial.

Bookmakers currently peg the Chargers as 6.5-point favorites with a 42.5-point over/under. With a projected high-scoring affair in store, here are the notable matchups to target on this slate

MVP Considerations

Philip Rivers ($15,000) - With quarterbacks carrying elevated importance on single-game slates, Philip Rivers stands out above Devlin Hodges. Rivers currently averages 293 passing yards per game and faces a Steelers' defense ranking 27th in pass D, according to our schedule-adjusted metrics. Ranking in the top 10 in pass attempts this season, Rivers provides a solid floor for the captain position in this matchup.

Melvin Gordon ($12,000) - Bolts coach Anthony Lynn indicated early in the week that Melvin Gordon could see additional opportunities in the run game. With Austin Ekeler coming in $2,000 more, Gordon could provide leverage in ownership and salary. Gordon touched the ball 16 times in his debut and now faces a Pittsburgh defense as 6.5-point home favorites.

James Conner ($12,500) - With Devlin Hodges expected to take over for an injured Mason Rudolph, the Steelers likely elevate rushing attempts for James Conner. With Jaylen Samuels also missing the game with an injury, only rookie Benny Snell Jr. stands in the way of a Conner bell-cow performance. So far this season, Conner has averaged only 11.6 carries per game and now projects to face negative game script. However, with few other options in the Pittsburgh offense, Conner remains a solid bet for volume tonight.

Value Plays

Mike Williams ($10,500) - Looking at cheap options on this slate, Mike Williams remains the cheapest viable attachment to Rivers and the Chargers' offense. Coming off an injury, Williams received 13 targets in his return to the lineup. While Williams and the Chargers are 6.5-point favorites, Williams is a strong red zone weapon and cheap attachment to this offense.

Diontae Johnson ($7,500) - With James Washington injured, Diontae Johnson projects to see elevated work in the Steelers' offense. While Hodges remains a question mark at best, Pittsburgh is expected to play from behind throughout this contest. Johnson has averaged 5.8 targets this season and led the team with eight last week. Los Angeles ranks 11th in pass defense, according to our metrics, but the volume makes Johnson attractive.

Hunter Henry ($7,000) - A surprise return from injury, Hunter Henry returned to full practice this week. While Henry's playing time remains a concern, he saw five targets in Week 1 and is a focal part of the Chargers' offense when healthy. Against tight ends, Pittsburgh is middle-of-the-pack defense, but Henry remains a superior talent at the position.
