4 NFL FanDuel Value Plays to Target in Week 2

Identifying key value plays are of paramount importance when it comes to Daily Fantasy Football. Luckily for you, our NFL projections are ready to roll, and our value category is brimming with potential slate-winning targets. If you're needing a salary saving option, consider plugging in one of these options into your lineup.

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills ($7,500)

In Week 1, we saw Josh Allen have a mixed game of success. Most people would look at what the did on the field and see his four turnovers in the stat line and figure he had a bad game. That's okay to think that because I believe it helps build my case. In a game where he played poorly, he still managed to score 17.96 FanDuel points.

There were also some really nice indicators that he's improving as a passer, even with the turnovers. Allen stood in the pocket and threw the ball 37 times, more attempts than he had thrown any other game in his rookie year. He finished the game with a 64.9% completion rate. He also only ate one sack even though he faced decent pressure by the New York Jets front-seven.

If he is improving as a passer and we know he already has that immense scoring floor due to his rushing ability, Allen could explode in Week 2 and provide significant value for your lineups. Our models currently project him to provide the 8th highest value score (2.51) on the main slate. He's the ideal tournament option due to his perceived volatility.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Oakland Raiders ($6,500)

While I am not a huge fan of using running backs who are on teams that are underdogs, I think the volume that Josh Jacobs could potentially get at a very affordable price tag is worth the risk. In Week 1, Jacobs saw an extensive workload as the Oakland Raiders pounded the football to control the clock. Josh finished the game with 23 carries for 85 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. He tacked on another reception for 28 yards receiving.

While the volume of rushes might not be there as the Raiders could be playing from behind against the visiting Kansas City Chiefs, he seems like he is going to be a three-down thumper with red-zone potential and plenty of talent. We saw similarly priced running backs in Week 1 with the same type of role have phenomenal games, including Chris Carson, and Mark Ingram.

I think there is credence to rolling out Josh Jacobs and then running it back in your same lineup with someone like Travis Kelce to have high touchdown equity. Feel free to pair Patrick Mahomes with Kelce for the added correlation. I can envision a scenario where the Raiders have success running the ball with Jacobs which forces Mahomes to slice up the Raiders weak secondary play with Kelce.

Tyler Boyd, WR, Cincinnati Bengals ($6,300)

One of my favorite things to do from week to week is looking at the salary swings for players based on their performance from the prior week. Often you can find a significant value just based on whose price dipped. Sometimes a very good player who even had the potential for a big day gets a price decrease because they were overshadowed by a teammate.

Enter, Tyler Boyd. In Week 1, his teammate, John Ross went absolutely nuclear and had a career game. Ross' price increased while Tyler Boyd's decreased by $600. Boyd is still the number one wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals and they get a very nice matchup against the poor secondary of the San Francisco 49ers.

Boyd received a healthy sum of 11 targets which he was able to turn into 8 receptions and 60 yards receiving. There is plenty of meat left on the bone there for the talented wide receiver. While I do not expect Andy Dalton to throw 51 passing attempts for the second straight week, there is a chance for the team to be more of a passing team this season, especially with Joe Mixon being a bit fragile when receiving a heavy workload.

Darren Waller, TE, Oakland Raiders ($5,400)

The youngster is a great game stacking option that fits perfectly with the aforementioned trio of Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Jacobs. Darren Waller gets the added bonus of playing on Monday night so his price tag only went up by $600 after his strong Week 1 performance in which he hauled in 7 receptions for 70 yards on 8 targets.

While tight ends naturally find their value tied in with touchdowns and red zone work, Waller played every single snap that the offense was on the field (58-of-58). He's an every-down tight end on an offense that is now missing Antonio Brown and needs people to step up offensively.

At his current price tag, Darren does not need much in order to provide significant value for your lineup. While the field pays up for the safer tight ends, embrace the volatility and fade the public while paying down at a position filled with turbulence.
