Philbin Goes For It and Wins
Was Joe Philbin's choice to go for it against the Patriots on Sunday the right one?

With the Dolphins down by a field goal to the Patriots and just over three minutes left on the clock, Miami head coach Joe Philbin decided to go for it on a 4th-and-5 from his team's 45-yard line. At the time, the Dolphins had three timeouts, so punting was certainly an option. But despite the television commentary, Philbin's choice proved to be the right one, as the Dolphins ended up marching down the field to score the go-ahead touchdown, winning the game.

Was it a gutsy move on Philbin's part, or just one that mathematically made sense? numberFire's Chief Analyst, Keith Goldner, takes a look.
