Philip Rivers, QB, San Diego Chargers

There isn’t much to say in support of Philip Rivers, whose offense has been ravaged by injuries and who faces an elite pass defense. Apart from the numerous injuries to the offensive line, Keenan Allen, and Malcom Floyd, we now add Stevie Johnson and Dontrelle Inman to the list of injured Chargers offensive players.

Over their past four games, the Chiefs have been toughest pass defense in the league on a per-play basis and shouldn’t have too much trouble containing San Diego this week. I have seen some suggest this could be a Danny Woodhead game, but the Chiefs have been stingy to running backs in the passing game. In their earlier meeting this season, Woodhead managed only nine yards on a catch and two targets. I don’t think this is a fluke, as Eddie Lacy’s 41 yards is the highest amount of receiving yards the Chiefs have allowed to a running back this season, and Matt Forte and LeSean McCoy are the only running backs to score a receiving touchdown against them.

Our 22nd-ranked quarterback, Rivers is projected for 267.33 passing yards, 1.65 touchdowns, and 1.34 interceptions.
