Derek Carr

FanDuel Salary: $7,700
numberFire Projected Points: 21.5

To be placing Derek Carr in a column recommending "studs" for DFS purposes feels, admittedly, a little bit weird to me. But it's time to acknowledge that which has become obvious. Carr is a good quarterback in real football terms and a player who deserves weekly consideration for your DFS lineups provided that he continues to remain underpriced.

Through nine games this season, Carr's 74.57 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP), ranks eighth among all NFL quarterbacks. NEP, numberFire's signature on-field performance metric, measures player performance above-or-below expectation by taking into account down-and-distance data and other football variables. Check out our glossary to learn more about NEP.

Carr's impressive Passing NEP is in part aided by his team's 10th-ranked 1.73:1 pass-to-run ratio, which certainly helps increase his fantasy value. But he isn't just getting it done on volume alone, sporting the 6th-highest efficiency ranking among starting quarterbacks with an impressive 0.22 Passing NEP per drop back.

In Week 11, Carr draws a prime matchup with the Detroit Lions' 30th-ranked pass defense, per our metrics. While the Raiders have been putting up points on the board consistently, Vegas actually is predicting a fairly close matchup, with a respectably high over/under of 48 points. And our numbers project him to be the second-highest scoring quarterback of the week, while being priced as the ninth-most expensive. As such, Carr should be at the top of your list for cash game consideration this week.
