Washington Passing Offense

Obviously, this isn't an option you're going to be selecting over the Arizona Cardinals' or San Diego Chargers' passing offenses in your cash games. But if you want to change things up? Then I have no problem with Washington -- for this week, at least.

Please don't confuse this for my being a Kirk Cousins backer. I'm merely here to tell you that he has at least been halfway competent this year, a feat I would not have expected prior to the season.

Through the first six weeks, Cousins is 16th in Passing NEP per drop back out of 36 quarterbacks with at least 75 drop backs. Furthermore, once you take schedule into account, Washington as a team ranks 11th in Adjusted Passing NEP per play. They're not a top-notch attack by any means, but they could have some upside against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Coming out of their bye, the Bucs sit 27th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play. Now, this Tampa defense hasn't given up a ton of fantasy points to quarterbacks, as they have only permitted two opposing signal callers to finish in the top 12 of scoring for the week. A lot of that is related to the game script, though, as the rate stat shows. The two times quarterbacks did air it out, they finished as the third-ranked quarterback for the week both times. The problem for the opposition has been volume rather than efficiency.

There are plenty of options you can choose from here. I don't hate Cousins, who is the 26th most expensive quarterback on FanDuel and minimum price for a quarterback on DraftKings. He's not likely to net you 20 points, but he also doesn't need to in order to hit value.

Here, though, I'm much more interested in his pass catchers. With DeSean Jackson likely out again in Week 7, that means I'm looking at Pierre Garcon, Jamison Crowder, and Jordan Reed.

Neither Garcon nor Crowder is swimming in efficiency, but they get the volume with both receivers seeing at least eight targets apiece each of the past three games. Against a defense like this, they can likely be more effective with said volume.

As for Reed, he was able to return to practice Wednesday, and he may be able to suit up for the first time since Week 4. In the four games he played, Reed saw 11, 6, 9, and 8 targets respectively. His price is still a bit lofty at $5,400 on FanDuel and $4,200 on DraftKings, but he can definitely produce if he plays.
