Lamar Miller, RB, Miami Dolphins

Lamar Miller hasn't lived up to the preseason hype that surrounded him. It's only been three weeks, but it's nevertheless concerning to see how Joe Philbin and the Dolphins coaches plan to use Miller. He has just 30 rushing attempts, which ranks 32nd among running backs. With that type of volume, a back needs to be efficient with what he gets, and Miller has been anything but that -- among running backs with at least 20 carries, Miller ranks 31st out of 47 in Rushing NEP per attempt.

However, one should note that Miller’s Success Rate, the percentage of attempts that result in positive NEP, of 46.7% ranks 13th out of 47. This could mean a few bad plays in a small sample size have bogged down his overall numbers.

That could just be irrelevant, though, because Miller is facing the New York Jets on Sunday morning. Anything can happen in these London games, but it's safe to say the Jets will maintain the formidable run defense they have shown over the first three weeks. They are our top-ranked run defense thus far with -0.18 Adjusted Defensive Rush NEP per play, as they have been able to integrate Leonard Williams into the rotation to overcome the absence of Sheldon Richardson.

With usage, efficiency, and matchup all ticking negatively, Miller has long odds at being one of the top running backs this week. We project him for 12.35 carries, 51.20 rushing yards, and 0.44 rushing touchdowns.
