Now that we're one week into the NFL season, it's time to overreact. Is Marcus Mariota actually da gawd, or is he just temporarily filling in? Does Adrian Peterson have a pulse? Should I trade Demaryius Thomas for Cole Beasley in season-long or nah?

Because I know that I'm prone to these types of stupid questions (just dropped Calvin Johnson halp), I try to lean on numbers to answer my questions as opposed to my brain. I'm accepting my own shortcomings and trying to find ways to reduce their effects on my decision making.

Each week, we'll go through what numberFire's metrics say are the most potent matchups of the week. This way, I keep myself from strolling down narrative street, and we can find areas we want to focus on with our roster spots and salary in daily leagues.

Throughout this piece, I'll be referencing numberFire's Net Expected Points (NEP) metric. On each play, there is an expected number of points a team will score on that particular drive. A positive play (a conversion of a third-down attempt) will increase that, while a negative play (a sack, incompletion, interception, run for no yards, etc.) will decrease it. NEP tracks the ebbs and flows of these increases and decreases throughout the course of the season. For teams, we use a schedule-adjusted version of NEP, which takes strength of schedule into account. This can give us a better vision of how well an offense or defense performs relative to expectation.

Now, with all of that said, let's dive into the best matchups on the board for daily fantasy football in Week 2.
