Antone Smith, RB, Atlanta Falcons

Antone Smith ($3,400) is part of an extremely crowded Falcons backfield that includes the likes of Steven Jackson, Jacquizz Rodgers, and Devonta Freeman. Nevertheless, he’s been nothing but explosive when he gets opportunities.

He ripped off a 74-yard touchdown catch last week against the New York Giants, and already has four other touchdowns this season, all of which are 30 yards or more.

Simply put, he’s a big play waiting to happen. He’s also numberFire’s 11th-best running back in terms of Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP), and ranks sixth in Reception NEP among all ball carriers. His Success Rate (83 percent) as a pass-catcher is through-the-roof good.

What’s scary about playing Smith though is his limited of number of touches. He’s only got 17 total on the year, which pales in comparison to Jackson (72) and Rodgers (26). Not to mention, the Chicago Bears have been pretty solid against the run, giving up the 11th-least fantasy points to running backs.

What’s encouraging is Falcons head coach Mike Smith is seemingly committed to getting Smith more involved in the offensive game plan, according to ESPN.com.

Smith is a boom-or-bust play this week, and is liable for another long touchdown, or no points at all. He’s extremely risky, but certainly has upside with the Falcons playing at home in the Georgia Dome.
