Mike Williams Scores 36.5 Fantasy Points

The recent form of the Los Angeles Chargers was due in no small part to the form of wide receiver Keenan Allen, who had amassed at least 72 yards or a touchdown in each of the Chargers' last seven games. When he suffered a hip injury on Thursday Night against the Kansas City Chiefs, Chargers fans must have feared the worst. Tyrell Williams did his best to stop the bleeding, with six receptions for 71 yards, but it was second year wide player Mike Williams who stepped up in a huge way.

Williams saw a career high nine targets against the Chiefs, grabbing seven of them (another career high) for 76 yards and two touchdowns. He also found the end zone on a 19-yard run, before catching the game clinching two point conversion. In all, Williams posted 36.5 fantasy points. This was the second-highest tally by a Chargers player all season, trailing only Allen’s 36.8 from Week 13 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was the highest score by a wide receiver against the Chiefs in 2018, and only David Johnson (37.3 in Week 10) had scored more among non-quarterbacks.

Allen has ten days to get healthy before the Chargers next game, but even if he misses it wouldn’t be wise to expect a repeat performance by Williams in Week 16. The Chargers will be taking on the Baltimore Ravens, and only three teams have allowed fewer fantasy points to wide receivers than Baltimore in 2018.
