Robby Anderson Ignites the Jets

Look, I'd be lying if I said Robby Anderson has had a good season. Frankly, he's had a bad 2018.

In 2017, Anderson was a hot fantasy commodity. He was Josh McCown's top (read: only) target on a team devoid of other options and one constantly down by multiple scores. It was a situation that catered to Anderson's strengths as an elite field-stretching receiver.

Things changed in 2018, particularly at the quarterback position but also in the receiving corps. Anderson has not been the only body on the New York Jets this year, but with Sam Darnold as the team's primary quarterback he has absolutely struggled. He's had no more than four catches in any game through Week 14, and only one game over 100 receiving yards.

But that's going to change this week when the Jets take on the Houston Texans. He may have started the season off slowly, but he's quietly averaged seven targets per game over his last five contests. That is some pretty solid volume, especially for a guy averaging 15.9 yards per reception.

His Week 15 opponent might not be equipped to deal with his skillset, either. While the Texans have one of the best defensive fronts in the league, their secondary is struggling -- take T.Y. Hilton's Week 14 performance as proof. When quarterbacks have had a second to take deep shots, the Texans' defensive backs have been kind of letting them happen.

That should lead perfectly into a big game for Robby Anderson. We don't think the Jets don't stand a chance against the Texans in this one, but if anything that should mean increased opportunity for Anderson. He'll finish with over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown in Week 15.
